    The Five Food Groups provides guidance about the minimal amounts of food for good health. 

    The current guidelines for  adults are:

  • Vegetables: at least 5-6 serves / day
  • Fruits: at least 2 serves / day
  • Grains & Cereals: 6 serves / day (focusing on whole grains)
  • Meat, poultry, fish, nuts/seeds, tofu, eggs, legumes/beans: 2.5 – 3 serves / day
  • Milk or milk alternatives: 2.5 serves per day
