- Nutrient Reference Values (NRV), established from scientific research, set the standards in Australia and New Zealand that define the amount of energy, nutrients, other dietary components and physical activity that best supports health.
- The NRV information is more comprehensive than the previous Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), which focused only on the level of nutrients needed to prevent deficiency disease.
The four reference points in the NRV model are:
- Estimated Average Requirement (EAR)
- Recommended Dietary Intake (RDI)
- Adequate Intake (AI)
- Upper Level of Intake (UL)
